MANOR — A woman and two children were injured in a single-vehicle crash in the 700 block of Jim Mixon Road Tuesday, said Ware County Sheriff Randy Royal.
The driver, Amanda Marie Taylor, 29, of Manor, and Addie Taylor, 3, of Manor, were taken by separate Air Evac helicopters to UF Health in Jacksonville, Fla., for treatment of injuries they suffered in the 3:32 p.m. accident, said Royal.
A 7-week-old baby, Camden Merritt, was taken by Ware County Emergency Medical Service ambulance to Mayo Clinic Health System in Waycross to be examined, as a precaution, Royal said. It was not known if the baby had any injuries, he said. Royal said his car seat was ejected from the truck as it crashed.
The driver suffered back injuries and lacerations and the 3-year-old had a broken leg, Royal said.
Driving a 2001 Ford F-150 pickup truck with extended cab, Amanda Marie Taylor was headed south on Jim Mixon Road when the truck ran off the road. Royal said the driver over-corrected the steering after losing control, causing the truck to slide sideways. The truck then struck a pine tree with the passenger side.
Royal said the truck finally spun to rest on the driver’s side in a ditch.
Ware County Fire Department personnel were dispatched to the wreck at 7081 Jim Mixon Road at 3:33 p.m. They arrived on-scene at 3:58 p.m. Emergency Medical Service technicians arrived prior to the fire department personnel.
Capt. Brian Varnadore, who was in charge of the fire department’s response, said two people were flown out by helicopter and one was taken to the local emergency room at Mayo Clinic Health System in Waycross.
“We did not have to do extrication but we landed two helicopters in a hay field nearby,” said Varnadore. “I am not sure of the status of the injured.”
Fire department personnel left the scene at 5:20 p.m.
Georgia State Patrol Trooper Jeffrey Robinson investigated the 3:32 p.m. accident, assisted by Deputy Daniel Guest.
