Ware County may now request funding under the Public Assistance grant program to cover eligible debris removal, emergency protective measures and the repair or rebuilding of public facilities such as roads, bridges, water control facilities, buildings, equipment, public utilities, parks and recreational facilities, said Carter.
The announcement from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) comes after Congressman Carter urged the Obama Administration to expand federal assistance in counties hit by Hurricane Matthew.
“Recovery from Hurricane Matthew continues across the First District of Georgia and this additional assistance is critical to ensure counties are able to rebuild,” said Carter. “I am pleased this funding is now available and I will continue to fight to ensure all South Georgians are able to access the assistance they need.”
