A Waycross woman was injured Monday when her car was hit by an oversized truck at the intersection of Anita Street and Wadley Road, and that driver was also injured, said the Georgia State Patrol.
Danielle Nicole Smith, 30, was transported by Ware County Emergency Medical Service ambulance to Memorial Satilla Health for treatment of her injuries, said Rhonda Swinea, GSP Waycross post secretary.
Smith had two children in her car, both girls, both age 2, and neither of them was injured, said Swinea.
The truck driver, John Wesley Seals, 30, of Waycross, was also injured and taken to Memorial Satilla Health for treatment, said Swinea.
Driving a 2011 Chevrolet Malibu, Smith was stopped at the stop sign on Wadley Road at Anita Street. Swinea said a 2002 oversized Ford truck driven by Seals, was northbound on Wadley Road. When he saw the Smith car stopped in front of him, realizing he would not be able to stop, he tried to avoid hitting the vehicle and swerved to enter the south lane of travel, Swinea said.
The Seals truck hit the Smith car in the driver’s side and both vehicles continued through the intersection onto the north shoulder.
Trooper Sherman McLain investigated the 10:05 a.m. accident.
