Two 18-year-old men were arrested on drug charges Thursday evening after police searching for a missing or runaway juvenile female found her in a truck with the two men on Reed Street and located a large amount of marijuana in the truck, said Waycross Police Capt. Benji Hersey.
Johnathan Guevara, 18, of Nevada Avenue, and Jonathon Galvin, 18, of Wadley Street, were both taken into custody on charges of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, felony possession of marijuana, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and possession of drug-related objects (digital scales), said Hersey.
“Officers answered a call about a missing juvenile about 9:53 p.m. and responded to Gilmore Street where she was thought to be,” said Hersey. “They were told to check the 600 block of Reed Street.”
When officers arrived at the Reed Street location, they saw a gray truck with the two men and the missing girl, 15 years old, sitting between them, then heard glass breaking, said Hersey. Beside the truck they found a jar that had been shattered that had contained marijuana which was scattered all over the street. Inside the truck, officers found a large bag of marijuana and another glass jar containing marijuana, along with a digital scale, Hersey said.
Guevara also had a bag of marijuana in his pocket, Hersey said.
Both men were being held in the Ware County jail. The girl was being held at the Regional Youth Detention Center.
