DOUGLAS — Three men believed responsible for an armed robbery at a local business earlier this year have been arrested, one of them from Waycross and the other two from Douglas, said Coffee County Sheriff Doyle Wooten.
Willie Bivens, 18, of Douglas, Ikhawn Presley, 19, of Waycross, and Stephon Best, 28, of Douglas, were taken into custody and booked into the Coffee County jail, said Wooten.
Deputies responded to Evans Grocery on Georgia Highway 32 West on Jan. 24 in reference to an armed robbery. Wooten said detectives responded to the scene, initiated an investigation, and, subsequently, distributed video of the incident through Facebook and other media outlets.
“As a result of the investigation, sheriff’s detectives have arrested these three for the incident at Evans Grocery,” said Wooten. “They are currently being held at the Coffee County jail.”
Wooten noted that the investigation is ongoing and has been a collaborative effort between the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office and the Douglas Police Department.
“More arrests in relation to this incident are expected,” said Wooten.
