A Waycross man has been arrested and charged with four counts of vehicle burglary as well as felony drug possession charges following an intensive investigation, said Ware County Sheriff Randy Royal.
While investigating several cases of vehicle burglaries in the 1500 block of Highland Road and the 2800 block of Cherokee Street between Wednesday and Thursday, a suspect was identified, said Royal. Detectives learned that the suspect had a Fourth amendment waiver to search because of previous felony offenses, said Royal.
The waiver was used to search the residence of Ronnie Dalton Bennett, 17, on Thursday by Detective Mike Thrift and Detective Lt. Neil Skerratt.
“While conducting the search a substantial quantity of marijuana was discovered,” said Royal. “As the search continued, evidence tying Bennett to the recent entering autos was discovered. Bennett was immediately arrested for misdemeanor marijuana charge and was transported to the Ware County jail for processing.”
On Friday, after completion of the investigations into the entering autos and the drug related offenses, Bennett was additionally charged with four counts of entering auto, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of Schedule III narcotics, said Royal.
Bennett, who resides in the 2600 block of Lamar Avenue Extension, remains in the Ware County jail, said Royal.
