WAYCROSS — On Friday, September 11, 2020, Sylvester “Butch” Mills transitioned from this life to his eternal home. A graveside service will be held Friday, September 18, at 10 a.m. at Oakland Cemetery, 2410 Alice Street, Waycross. Pastor Scott, Bethel Free Will Baptist Church, will officiate the service. A public viewing will be held from 4 until 7 p.m. Thursday, September 17, at Fluker Funeral Home, 985 Ossie Davis Parkway, Waycross. The family asks everyone to practice social distancing and wear a mask for their safety and the safety of others. The family will receive visits between 4 and 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 17. Please practice social distancing and mask safety during your brief visit to offer condolences. Sylvester “Butch” was born on July 14, 1949. He was a member of the Center High School class of 1967, where he played football and basketball. He was baptized and raised in Bethel Free Will Baptist Church. Sylvester relocated to Atlanta in 1968. Sylvester was married for 16 years and is the father of three children, grandfather of four grandchildren, and great-grandfather of one great-grandchild. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Allen E. and Flossie Mills, and his older brothers, James Mills and Randolph Mills. Upon his return to Waycross, he reunited with Bethel and served as a faithful deacon, community member, and Servant of God, until his demise. In lieu of flowers, cards or gifts may be sent to Dr. Patricia Mills, 816 E. Waring Street, Waycross.
