Henry Burl James
Henry Burl James, 94, died Friday evening (Sept. 23, 2016) at his residence in Waycross following an extended illness.
He was born in Manor and lived all of his life in Ware County. He was an electrician for 41 years having worked with Morton Electric, Ware Electric and Kammerer Electric.
He served in the United States Army during World War II fighting on the beaches of Normandy on D-Day.
He was a son of the late Walton C. James and Maggie Cribb James. He was also preceded in death by his son, Marty James, a brother, Wesley James, of Manor, and three sisters, Dora McMillan, of Manor, Margaret Shear, of Valdosta, and Evelyn Beverly, of Valdosta.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Geneva Tatum James, of Waycross; a son, C.B. James (Jann), of Waycross; three grandchildren, Benjie James (Dossie), of Charleston, S.C., Jennifer Johnson (Trey), of Blackshear, and Jason Cox, of Waycross; four great-grandchildren, Maggie James, Henry James and Allie James, all of Charleston, S.C., and Garret Johnson, of Blackshear; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday morning at the funeral home from 10 until 11 o’clock.

John Wayne Culver
BLACKSHEAR — John Wayne Culver, 67, of Blackshear, passed away Saturday (Sept. 24, 2016) at his residence.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Pearson-Dial Funeral Home.

Waunell M. Sapp
BLACKSHEAR — Waunell Manning Sapp, 87, of Blackshear, passed away early Sunday morning (Sept. 25, 2016) at the Pierce County Nursing Home.
Born in Waycross, March 7, 1929, she lived in Pierce County all of her life. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed cooking and loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She was a daughter of the late Enoch Fulton and Zoie Lee Peacock Manning. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Omer Vernon Sapp, a grandson, Brian Kelly Jones, two sisters, Jeanette McQuaig and Maudelle Crosby, and both of her brothers, Charles Manning and Estus Manning.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Patsy and Danny Jones, of Blackshear; a son and daughter-in-law, Jerome and Linda Sapp, of Blackshear; two sisters, Betty Fraley, of Waycross, and Roxie Riggins, of Blackshear; three grandchildren, Steven (Deanna) Jones, Christy (Jimmy) Flowers and Jason (Tracey) Sapp; seven great-grandchildren, Carter Jones, Caleb Jones, Calli Ann Jones, Nolan Flowers, Brianna Flowers, Kaitlyn Sapp and Gabe Sapp; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
The funeral will be held Tuesday afternoon at 4 o’clock at the Pearson-Dial Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment will be in the St. Johns Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

Mary Lee Dunster
Mary Lee Dunster, 70, died Saturday morning (Sept. 24, 2016) at Mayo Clinic Health System in Waycross following an extended illness.
She was born in Jacksonville, Fla., and lived most of her life there before moving to Waycross 10 years ago. She was a retired hotel clerk from Hospitality Inn of Jacksonville, Fla. She was also a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Waycross.
She was a daughter of the late Morris Lindsey and Rose Moore Lindsey. She was preceded in death by her son, Roger Dunster Jr.
She is survived by three children, Mark Godwin (Mary Jo Zurbrugg), of Waycross, Annette Smith (William), of Blackshear, and John Godwin (Connie Myers), of Jacksonville, Fla.; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Demick (Rick), of Callahan, Fla., and Jane Lindsey, of Waycross; two brothers, Morris Lindsey, of Valdosta, and Michael Lindsey, of Louisiana; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Waycross. The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon at the church from 1 until 2 o’clock.

Van Buren Todd
A funeral for Van Buren Todd took place Saturday morning in the Music Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jesse Deems officiating.
Burial was in Kettle Creek Cemetery.
Serving as active pallbearers were Ben Aldridge, Adam Henderson, Richard Henderson, Alexander Shackleford, Chris Shacklford and Tony Todd.
Honorary pallbearers were James Marion Melton and Landon Rooks.

Anthony McDonald
A homecoming service for Anthony D. McDonald was held Saturday afternoon at New Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church with Bishop A.W. Carswell Sr. and Pastor Jackie Hooper Sr. officiating.
Burial followed in Paulk Cemetery in Ambrose.
Pallbearers were Frank Nelson, Thomas Smith, Morris Young Jr., Dan Hamilton, Henry Anderson and Johnny Waldon.
Miles-Odum Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
