Robert ‘Bubba’ Brown
Robert Hampton “Bubba” Brown, 34, of Homerville, died Wednesday (March 13, 2019) at his residence after a brief illness.
He was born in Waycross, but had Homerville his home for the majority of his life. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Homerville. He was a loving person with a big heart. He loved people and would do anything for anyone. He enjoyed singing, and spending time with his family and friends. He cherished his job working in bees with his best friend, Cary Kight.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Elizabeth Pauline Pittman, and his paternal grandparents, Rob and Mattie Lou Brown.
He is survived by his mother, Janice Pittman Brown, of Homerville; his father, Allen Brown, of Homerville; two brothers, A.J. Brown (Heather), of Waycross, Scott Brown (Charlie), of Millwood; one nephew, Sawyer Brown; two nieces, Lyndsey Brown, Lacey Brown; his maternal grandfather, William Hampton Pittman of Manor, two aunts, Serena M. “Rere” Daniels, of Manor, Wanda P. Selph (Donnie), of Homerville; his best friend, Cary Kight (Erica), of Homerville; and numerous other relatives.
A funeral will be held 3 p.m. Sunday at Indian Mound Baptist Church in Millwood. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6 until 8 at Miles-Odum Funeral Home.

Pastor Walter Scott Jr.
Pastor Walter Scott Jr., 53, a native of Jesup, and resident of Meridian, Ga., passed away on Wednesday (March 13, 2019) at S.E. Georgia Health System, Brunswick campus, following a lengthy illness.
Survivors include his wife of 17 years, Anna Marie Scott, Meridian; three daughters, Thea Scott, Brunswick, Lydia Scott, Waynesville, and Lakia Ellis, Kileen, Texas; two sisters, Deborah (Zachary) Bailey and Valerie Lawson, both of Jesup; a brother, Karl Scott, Jesup; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A wake/visitation will be held on Sunday at Bennett Union Missionary Baptist Church, 401 W. Pine St., Jesup, from 6 until 8 p.m.
The funeral will be held Monday at Unity Church of God, 1580 Sunset Blvd., Jesup, at 3 p.m.
Repast will be at Bennett Union Missionary Baptist Church following the service.
Interment will be in Gardi Cemetery, Gardi, Ga.
Final arrangements are entrusted to Royal Funeral Home, Inc., Jesup.

James Ed. Dowling Sr.
A Masonic and military graveside service for James Edward Dowling Sr. was held Friday morning at Oakland Cemetery with Brother Clinton Herrin officiating.
Entombment was accompanied by military rites led by a contingent from Fort Stewart. As a Mason of more than 65 years, Dowling was laid to rest accompanied by full Masonic Rites, conducted by Brother Buster Meeks of Bacon Lodge.
Such was Dowling’s renown in area Masonic circles that representatives from four separate lodges participated in his solemn rites, including Bacon Lodge No. 56, Blackshear Lodge No. 270, Frank C. Folks Lodge No. 192, and Waycross Lodge No. 305.
Miles-Odum Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
