Carter praised as effective commissioner

Waycross and Ware County residents are mourning the loss of one of their most supportive citizens Friday when the death of Ware County Commissioner Burton Carter was announced.
Carter had served on the county commission for one term and was looking forward to more years on the board.

City tables action on statue removal

The Waycross City Commission tabled a resolution that would have been the first step in removing the Confederate statue and cannon from Phoenix Park in downtown.

Movie to shoot at city, county locations

Hollywood is coming to Waycross and Ware County.
A handful of scenes from the movie, “Wash Me in the River” will be filmed locally early next month, according to Randall Emmett, co-founder and chairman of Emmett/Furla/Oasis Films. The film’s director said the actors and crew will be in the area about a week, including three days of shooting in the city and elsewhere in Ware County along with one location in Douglas.
