The Oct. 3 Local Fare Market at the Okefenokee Heritage Center will be the last of the 2015 season.
To ensure the crowds have plenty of time to shop at the “multi-purpose” market, the market hours will be extended one hour, making the hours 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.
The September Way Green Local Fare Market saw 650 people turn out to enjoy the shopping, free demonstrations, music and community, and another great crowd is expected for October. New vendors have been added to the regular lineup and free demonstrations on how to make sauerkraut are scheduled at 9:30 a.m. and 11:15 a.m.
Music will once again be provided by market favorite, Millwood Drive, the Local Fare Market “house band.”
A raffle for a basket of market goodies will also be part of the day’s festivities. There is no charge for the event and the community is invited to come out and enjoy this time of community.
The market, which has been held monthly on the first Saturday since May, was organized for the purpose of offering local growers and producers a venue to sell their product and to get local products into the hands of locals.
It has grown each month with September’s 650 being the largest attendance yet.
