Lena Shaw Anderson
Lena Shaw Anderson passed away peacefully Friday (Oct. 2, 2015) at Hospice Satilla Hospice House after an extended illness with loved ones at her bedside.
A celebration of life service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Powerhouse of Faith, 1608 Louisiana Ave. The body will lie in repose in the church from 10 a.m. until the service hour.
Burial will follow in Hazzard Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 5 until 8 p.m.
She was a proud graduate of Center High School, class of 1967, of Savannah State College and of the University of Phoenix. She was also a lifetime member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., Waycross Alumni Chapter, and a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Waycross Chapter, and of Daughters of Isis, Darien Chapter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Wesley Anderson Jr., her father, James R. Smith Jr., and a brother, Juan Farmer.
She is survived by her mother, Mary L. Daniels; two daughters, Victoria E. (Michael) Sutherland and Clarissa (M.A. “Lorenzo”) Davis; five grandchildren, Kendra D. Sutherland, Chillus W. Sutherland, Michael L. Sutherland II, Savannah (L.A.) Davis and Loren (A.A.) Davis; brothers and sisters, Glynn Daniels, Jeanette Thomas, Gaylord Daniels, Michael Daniels, Tyrone Shaw, Daphne Bell, Glenda Price, Annette Smith-Heard, Sharon Smith-Chatman, Angela Smith, Tonya Richardson and LaVan Smith Shaheed; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and sorrowing friends.

Mary Bowers Kailimai
Mary Elizabeth Bowers Kailimai, 64, of Homeland, passed away Monday (Oct. 5, 2015) in Jacksonville, Fla.
She was born Aug. 5, 1951 in Folkston to the late Earl Cleveland Bowers and Veronica Reed Bowers.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Hilliard, Fla.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Harold Hodges, and a sister, Nina Alexander.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, James Awana Kailimai; two children, Jamie Kailimai and Marcy (Adam) Chism; three grandchildren, Morgan Lokelani Kailimai, Taylor Kai Flora and Brock Kaeo Chism; six sisters, Carolyn Edwards, Rose Pritchard, Annette Todd, Sylvia Frankovick, Vivian Smith and Rose Rowe; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
The family will receive friends this evening from 6 until 8 o’clock at Shepard Funeral Home in Folkston.
The funeral will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Hilliard, Fla., with President Gordon Hand officiating.
Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Hilliard, Fla.

James R. Edgar Jr.
James R. “Jimmy” Edgar Jr., 73, beloved husband, brother, uncle and great-uncle, passed away Saturday (Oct. 3, 2015).
Born in Waycross, May 12, 1942, he moved to Jacksonville after graduating from Georgia Southern University.
He was preceded in death by his parents, J. Riley Sr. and Sarah Grace Edgar, his brother, Gary L. Edgar, and sister, Betty Brewster.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Brenda Edgar, and sisters, Gloria Wildes and JoAnne Hakanson.
He is loved by many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
His second love was for computers and technology. He worked for various companies in Jacksonville, including Independent Life Insurance, Gulf Life Insurance, American Heritage Life Insurance and Black Knight Financial Company.
The family will receive friends for visitation Thursday from 6 until 8 p.m. at George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4140 University Blvd. South.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Southpoint Baptist Church, 3335 Tiger Hole Road, Jacksonville, Fla. with Dr. Terry N. Collins officiating.
Interment will follow at 3 p.m. in Greenlawn Cemetery, 5000 Brunswick Highway, Waycross.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his honor to the Jacksonville Humane Society, 8464 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville, Fla. 32216 or to Southpoint Baptist Church.
