Ronald James Peete
FOLKSTON — Ronald James Peete, 69, of Folkston, passed away Saturday (Oct. 24, 2015) at his residence.
He was born April 10, 1946 to Gerald and Olive O’Brien Peete, in Niagara Falls, N.Y. He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 130 and St. Francis of Assisi.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Annette L. Peete, of Folkston; two children, Chris (Amy) Peete and Veronica (Andy) Barrett; one brother, Jerry Peete; two sisters, Sue Ann Socko and Denise Peete; three grandchildren, Ryan C. Peete, Brody A. Barrett and Tyler H. Peete; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Fred Peete.
The funeral services was scheduled for 11 o’clock this morning at St. Francis of Assisi.
Burial will follow in Homeland Cemetery.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the American Legion or the American Heart Association.

Gladys Cooper, of Waycross, passed away Wednesday (Oct. 21, 2015) in Rochester, N.Y.
She is survived by her daughter, Prudence Wilson, of Rochester, N.Y.; a grandson, Corey X. Wilson; six great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A homegoing celebration will be held Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church where the Rev. Fer-Rell M. Malone Sr. is pastor.
Burial and committal services will be held in Hazzard Hill Cemetery.
Visitation and receiving of friends by the family will take place at Perry Brothers Funeral Home Friday from 6 until 8 p.m.

Tommy H. Musgrove
Tommy Henry Musgrove, 86, died Monday (Oct. 26, 2015) at his residence following a brief illness.
He was a native and lived most of his life in Ware County but made his home in Rome, Ga., for almost eight years.
He was preceded in death by wives, Frankie Margie Taft and Barbara Bennett Musgrove, a son, Freddie Lee Musgrove Sr., a grandson, Freddie Lee Musgrove Jr., his parents, Henry Virgil Musgrove and Vera Walden Musgrove, three sisters, Henry Faye Musgrove, Margaret Mizell and Vera Faye Garrett, and three brothers, Roy Musgrove, Cecil Musgrove and Woodfin Musgrove.
He was retired as owner and operator of Musgrove Trucking Company. He had been a member of the former Victory Missionary Baptist Church and was currently a member of the East View Baptist Church of Rome, Ga.
Survivors include his wife of eight years, Wilma Pearson Musgrove, of Rome; two daughters, Tammy Musgrove Dixon (husband, Robert), of Waycross/Blackshear, Glenda Musgrove Cofield (husband, Bill-U.S. Army Ret.), of Naylor; sons, Elmer Lavelle Bennett, of Waycross, and USAF Ret. Lorian Earlie Bennett (wife, Shannon), of Cocoa, Fla.; children by special mention, Jack Taft, Josie Harper (deceased), Ruby Sellers (deceased), Lehura Delk (deceased), Virginia Taft Walden, Betty Taft (deceased), Roy Taft, Dot Taft Price (deceased); children by marriage, Johnny Pearson (wife, Carol), of Rome, Joann Hester (husband, Jim), of Rome, Judy Pearson, of Rome, Jody Pearson (wife, Becky), of Rome; grandchildren, Hope Hersey (husband, Greg), of Blackshear, Joy Griffis (husband, Charles), of Millwood, Latasha Davis (husband, John), of Millwood, Tonia Hendricks (husband, Keith) of Waycross, Shelby Bennett, of Cocoa, Fla., USAF Ret. Darrell Glenn Smith (wife, Bree-USAF Ret.), of Dover, USAF Major Eric Steven Smith (wife, Nadia), of Valdosta, Preston Bennett, of Waycross; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sister, Vonelle Mizell, of Douglas; brothers, Edwin Musgrove (wife, Ona), of Millwood, and Joe Musgrove (wife, Mary), of Douglas; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A funeral will be held 2 p.m. Friday at the Music Funeral Home Chapel, Waycross.
Burial will be in the Musgrove Cemetery in Millwood.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday at Music Funeral Home.

Lena Sweat Walker
Lena Emelyn Sweat Walker, 82, of Patterson, passed away Monday evening (Oct. 26, 2015) at the Hospice Satilla Hospice House.
Born in Patterson July 18, 1933, she lived in Pierce County most of her life. She was a homemaker and was a member of Laura Chapel Baptist Church.
She loved to work in her yard and tend to her plants and flowers. She loved her family and was the strength behind her children.
She was a daughter of the late John Henry and Lena Thornton Sweat. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Willie W. “Winnie” Walker, a son, John David Haire, and four brothers, Claude Sweat, Carl Sweat, Burney Sweat and James Sweat.
Survivors include her daughter, Brenda Diane Lowman, of Hortense; three sons, Robert Haire, of Waycross, Ronald “Ronnie” (Denise) Haire and Roy Evan (Natalie) Walker, all of Patterson; a step-daughter, Marcell (Michael) Bennett, of Woodbine; Patterson; a step-son, Freddy (Debbie) Walker, of St. Marys; two sisters, Lydia Nell Mills, of Montgomery, Ala., and Mary Grace Hancock, of Virginia; a brother, Tommy (Mary Ruth) Sweat, of Patterson; 25 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
The funeral will be held Thursday morning at 11 o’clock in the Pearson-Dial Chapel.
Interment will be in the Laura Chapel Cemetery.
Visitation will be held this evening from 6 until 8 o’clock at the funeral home.

Olive Irene Griffin
Olive Irene Griffin, 73, died Tuesday (Oct. 27, 2015) at her residence.
She was a native of Brantley County. She was preceded in death by her parents, Oliver Moses Griffin and Irene Mittie Lyles Griffin. She was a member of Rehobeth Baptist Church.
Survivors include her two daughters, Cheryl Carver (husband, Robert “Bobby”), of Waycross, Carol Sue Reddish (husband, Randy), of Blackshear; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Violet Letha Thomas, of Palatka, Fla.; a brother, Earl John Griffin Sr., of Palatka, Fla.; a special friend, Charles Vernon Royal, of Waycross.
A funeral will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at Rehobeth Baptist Church. Burial will be at High Bluff Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church Thursday from 1 until 2 p.m.
