Byron Stacy Taylor
Byron Stacy Taylor, 62, died suddenly Sunday (Nov. 27, 2016) at the Mayo Clinic Health System in Waycross.
He was born in Wayne County but had lived in Blackshear most of his life before moving to Waycross 8 years ago. He was a retired technician with AT&T and attended Wards Memorial Baptist Church several years ago.
He was a son of the late Richard Taylor and Betty Wheeless Taylor.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Sweat Taylor, of Waycross; four children, Jennifer Matheson (Robert), of Brunswick, Stacey Bennett (Grant), of Blackshear, Nicholas Taylor (Serina), of Hahira, and Alexis Taylor, of Waycross; three grandchildren, Mason Bennett, Thomas Taylor and Erin Taylor; a brother, Stephen Vance Taylor, of Bonifay, Fla.; a sister, Lynn Strickland (Jeff), of Blackshear; four nieces and nephews, Sirena Cady (Trent), of Waycross, Kristopher Hancock, of Jacksonville, Fla., Summer Greene, of Gray, Dempsey Herrin, of Savannah, and Will Taylor, of Tifton; his mother-in-law, Myrtle L. Sweat, of Waycross; and two sisters-in-law, Nancy S. Mock (Danny), of Waycross, and Debbie S. Smith (Bill), of Jacksonville, Fla.
A memorial service will be held 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Music Funeral Home Chapel.
The family will be receiving friends Wednesday afternoon at the funeral home from 4 until 6 o’clock.

Doris Martin Barnard
Doris Jeanette Martin Barnard, 77, of Nahunta, passed away Sunday evening (Nov. 27, 2016) at Hospice Satilla in Waycross following an extended illness.
Born in Hoboken, she was the daughter of the late Watson Martin and Goldie Melton. She was also preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Ralph McGinty Barnard, one grandchild, Casey Morgan, two brothers, Delmus Martin and Raymond Martin, one sister, Ruby Barnard, one son-in-law, Stanley Nichols.
She was of the Christian faith. She loved reading the newspaper, doing word searches, sewing, watching Hallmark on TV, shopping and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Debra Haskew (Johnny), of Nahunta, Vicky Nichols, of Nahunta, Bonnie Morgan (Wayne), of Raybon; four grandchildren, Michael Heick, Mandy Morgan (Billy), Kristen Crews (Brandon), Kyle Morgan; six great-grandchildren, Lucy Morgan, Ansley Morgan, Haley Morgan, Sidney Morgan, Kase Crews and Kannon Crews; two brothers and their spouses, Thomas Martin (Ruth), of Waycross, Alton Martin (Gail), of Vienna, Ga.; and one sister, Linda Sirmons (Larry), of Waycross.
Visitation will be held this evening from 6 until 8 o’clock at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
A funeral will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Southside Baptist Church with Brother Terry Barnard and the Rev. Jerry Johns officiating.
Burial will follow in High Bluff cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Martin, Travis Martin, Randall Hickox, James Barnard, Glen Barnard and Josh Sirmons.
Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.

Sue Ann Franklin
Sue Ann Butts Franklin, 72, of Waycross, died Sunday afternoon (Nov. 27, 2016) at her residence after an extended illness.
She was born in Guntersville, Ala., to the late Grover and Millie T. Bentley Butts. She lived in Waycross most of her life.
She was a homemaker and a member of Cornerstone Church of God. She was an avid Atlanta Braves fan and enjoyed watching the news channel.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willis Irvin Franklin, one son, Alvin Franklin, one sister, Louella Smith, two brothers, Edward Butts and Durward Butts.
Survivors include six children, Edward Franklin (wife, Mary), of Nicholls, Norma Staggs (husband, Eddie), of Richmond Hill, Rita Walker (husband, Shane), of Adel, Alice Bratcher (husband, J.B.), of Waycross, Leon Franklin (wife, Shonna), of Waycross, Steven Franklin (wife, Heather), of Waycross; 22 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lodine Franklin, of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Delphine Haynes, of Huntsville, Ala.; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A funeral will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Cornerstone Church of God.
Burial will follow in High Bluff Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 12 until 2 p.m. at the church.

Betty Jean Salazar
Betty Jean Norman Salazar, 74, of Waycross, passed away Monday (Nov. 7, 2016) at the Hospice Satilla Hospice House.
Born in Blackshear, March 18, 1942, she lived in Ware County since 2001. She was a housewife and was of the Baptist faith.
She was a daughter of the late Farley Lamar and Essie Mae Aspinwall Norman. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Florence Marie Lea’Sure, two sisters, Gracie Turner and Evelena Mock, and a brother, Grady Norman.
Survivors include her husband, Lorenzo Salazar, of Waycross; her daughter, Charlotte Hines, of Waycross; two sisters, Wanda Westberry and Barbara (David) Watson, all of Blackshear; four brothers, Buddy Norman, Jimmy Norman, Talmadge Norman and Robbie Norman, all of Blackshear; three grandchildren, Veronica (Roger) Corvasce, Rey (Patricia) Gonzalez and Amanda (Alfredo) Jiminez; 11 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Memorialization is by cremation.

Terry Vester Carter
Terry Vester Carter, 51, died Monday (Nov. 28, 2016) at Emory Hospital in Atlanta.
He was born June 22, 1965 in Waycross and grew up here. He attended school in the Ware County School System.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William V. Carter and Carolyn Carter, and a brother, Van Carter.
He is survived by his sister, Charlene Carter, of Waycross; a brother, Perry Timothy Carter (wife, Doreen), of Atlanta; six nieces, six nephews, seven great-nieces and nephews; his favorite niece, Destiny Shyanne Rowland who he considered like a daughter; and his favorite cousin, Kevin Pittman.
Memorialization is by cremation.

BLACKSHEAR — Pinkie Elizabeth Mackey, 55, of Blackshear, passed away Sunday (Nov. 27, 2016) at Waycross Health and Rehabilitation in Waycross, with loved ones at her bedside.
