BLACKSHEAR — Several large items of property stolen in a residential burglary and a theft at Mershon Tractor Co. have been recovered as the investigation into the two cases continues, but no one has been charged as yet, said Pierce County Sheriff Ramsey Bennett.
“We have recovered almost all of the stolen property from the theft and the burglary,” said Bennett. “I hope by tomorrow (Thursday) to have some folks in custody and will be able to lay it all out for you.”
Bennett said that around the same time as the theft at Mershon Tractor Co., a residential burglary took place at a house on the corner of Guest Road and Big House Road where several items were stolen.
“We’ve been with this thing up until midnight last night and right back at it this morning,” Bennett said on Wednesday. He did not indicate whether he thinks the same suspects perpetrated both burglaries.
As to the time of the thefts, Bennett didn’t specify beyond saying, “in the past few days.”
Thieves who hit Mershon Tractor Co. swiped two John Deere Gators (side-by-sides) valued at about $13,000 each.
The sheriff asks that anyone who may have information on the two incidents to call his office and let investigators know.
The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department and the Blackshear-Pierce County ACE (Accelerated Criminal Enforcement) Unit are conducting the investigation.
