Mother Agnes Miller
A celebration of life service for Mother Agnes Mote Miller, 93, will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Church of Christ Written in Heaven, 671 Blackwell St., with the church pastor, Bishop John Moss, presiding and Elder Joyce Hardy, pastor of Church of Christ Written in Heaven, 1137 Ossie Davis Parkway, offering words of comfort.
Public visitation will be held Friday from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at Fluker Funeral Home, 985 Ossie Davis Parkway.
The body will lie in repose at the church Saturday from 9 a.m. to the hour of service.
Interment will be in Telemore Cemetery.
She departed this life Saturday morning (May 23, 2015) at Satilla Care Center after an illness.
She was born Aug. 14, 1921 in Telmore to the late William Mote and Liler Vereen Mote.
She accepted Christ at the age o 12 and joined Telmore Church of Christ Written in Heaven. She served under the leadership of the late Elder Regulus, the late Elder Mausbley and her nephew, the late Ernest Wesley Jr. She was the oldest member of Church of Christ Written in Heaven Waycross-Brunswick District under the leadership of Bishop John A. Moss.
She was employed by Norma Gillis Wheeler for 37 years. She was also preceded in death by her husband David Leon. Miller Sr., a son, David Leon Miller Jr., a grandson, David Leon Miller III, two sisters and four brothers.
Those left to cherish her memory include a loving and devoted daughter, Carolyn Miller, of Waycross; three grandchildren, Willette Miller, William R. Miller and Donnie Miller, all of Waycross; 11 great-grandchildren, Aaliyah McCall, Krista Saul, of Blackshear, Damian Miller, Adrianna Miller, Deshad Miller, Daquarious Miller, Alesia Miller, David Leon Miller IV, Desmond Miller, Davin Miller and Breanna Presley, all of Waycross; the Norma Gillis Wheeler family; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Friends are being received at her daughter’s residence, 1002 Sweat St.

Grace Nipper Hill
Grace Maudine Nipper Hill, 87, of Blackshear, formerly of Brunswick, passed away Tuesday (May 26, 2015) at Mayo Nursing Home in Blackshear.
Born in Ashburn Jan. 1, 1928, she was the daughter of Johnny Webb Nipper and Annie Maude Vanzant Nipper. Her daughter and grandson were also born on Jan. 1 and she was very proud of this.
She graduated from Ashburn High School in Ashburn. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Brunswick. She worked in the medical field for years in the office for Dr. Joe Owens and Dr. Marvin Engle.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William D. Hill Sr., a son, Gregory Webster Hill, her parents, and three brothers, Za Nipper, James Nipper and Don Nipper.
Survivors include a daughter, Diane Hill Rowe, of Blackshear, formerly of Brunswick and Aiken, S.C.; two sons, William D. Hill Jr. (wife, Fredia), of Blackshear, and George Michael Hill (wife, Pam), of Jesup; five grandchildren, Glenn Wilbur Rowe Jr. (Laurie), of Lexington, S.C., Gregory Webster Hill Jr., of St. Simons Island, William Denny Hill III (Melissa), of Blackshear, Amy Hill Weaver (Dwayne), of Hull, Ga., Emily Hill (Shane), of Jesup; nine great-grandchildren, Alex Hill, of St. Simons, Tyler Rowe, Matthew Rowe and Callie Rowe, all of Lexington, S.C., Ellington Hill and Remington Hill, of Blackshear, Anniston Weaver, of Hull, Ga., Bracken Murphy and Koen Murphy, of Jesup; sisters-in-law, Hazel Nipper, of Valdosta, Myra Huggins, of Eastman, Ruth Ciraldo, of Atlanta; and several special nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held 11 a.m. Saturday in the Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time.
Interment will follow in Brunswick Memorial Park Cemetery.

A funeral for L.H. Courson was held Wednesday morning at Kettle Creek Church with the Rev. Danny Varnadore officiating.
Burial followed in Kettle Creek Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jimmy Brantley, Justin Britt, Ron Courson Jr., Scott Courson, Shane Courson and Terry Sapp.

Pearl Melton Tatum
A funeral for Pearl Melton Tatum was held Wednesday afternoon at Youmans Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. Randall Gunter, the Rev. Ron Knapp and the Rev. Edward Hurst officiating.
Burial followed in Greenlawn Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ricky Davis, Ronnie Hurst Jr., Gene Tatum, Tate Tatum, Charlie Jim Thrift and Jessie “Tatum” Thrift.
