L.H. Courson
L.H. Courson, 92, died Monday morning (May 25, 2015) at the Mayo Clinic Health System in Waycross following an extended illness.
He was born and raised in the Bickley community and lived all of his life in the Ware County area. He retired after 40 years of employment with the Georgia Power Company as a winch truck operator and was a member of Kettle Creek Southern Congregational Methodist Church.
He was a son of the late Henry Newt Courson and Kizzie White Courson. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Joshua D. Williams.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Bertie Iona Courson, of Waycross; six children, Linda Kirkland (Larry Brady), of Waycross, Ron Courson (Janice), of Waycross, Paula Reese (Stanley), of Hoboken, Tim Courson (Teresa), of Dacula, Jeffrey Courson, of Waycross, and Teresa Adams, of Hoboken; nine grandchildren, Wendy James (Brian), Samantha Toler (Jimmy), Ron Courson Jr. (Evelyn), Scott Courson, Shane Courson (Penny), Amy Reese, Holli Courson, Peyton Courson and Brea Britt (Justin); 14 great-grandchildren; a brother, Dewitt Courson, of Bickley; three sisters, Genene Bennett, Laverne Taylor (Eugene) and Vitress Hyde, all of Waycross; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral was to be held 11 o’clock this morning at Kettle Creek Southern Congregational Methodist Church.
Burial will follow in Kettle Creek Cemetery.

Agneta K. O’Banion
Agneta Kjellin O’Banion, 67, of Waycross, died Sunday night (May 24, 2015) at Mayo Clinic Health System in Waycross after an extended illness.
She was born in Stockholm, Sweden to the late Erik and Friedeborg Kjellin. She moved to Waycross in 1969 and then lived in Tampa, Fla. and Offerman and moved back to Sweden in 1982.
In 1990 she moved back to Waycross. She was a member of University Boulevard Church of God and a homemaker. She loved animals, specifically cats and dogs.
Survivors include two sons, Eric O’Banion, of Jacksonville, Fla., Michael O’Banion (wife, Chessica), of Odum; two grandchildren, Chrissie O’Banion and Mariana O’Banion; special son, David Grandy, of Jacksonville, Fla.; American mother, Adeline O’Banion, of Offerman.
A funeral will be held Thursday morning at 11 o’clock University Boulevard Church of God. Burial will follow in Offerman Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday morning from 10 until 11 at the church.

Infant ‘Asher’ Dixon
Infant Handin “Asher” Dixon died Saturday (May 23, 2015) at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah.
He is survived by his parents, Austin and Kristi Dixon, of Offerman; a brother, Trent Dixon, of Offerman; grandparents, Alan and Tammy King, of Offerman, Tim and Brenda Wright, of Waycross, and Terry Dixon, St. Simons Island; great-grandparents, Jimmy and Laverne O’Berry, of Offerman, and Maxine King, of Offerman; and several aunts, uncles and other relatives.
A graveside service was held Monday afternoon at Offerman Cemetery in Offerman with the Rev. Andrew F. Peacock Jr. officiating.

Valerie Marie Smith
Valerie Marie Smith, 35, of Hortense, passed away Thursday (May 21, 2015) at Mayo Clinic Health System in Waycross following a brief illness.
Born in Jesup, she was the daughter of Richard Allen Smith, of Atkinson, and the late Glenda Mae Johns Davis. She was also preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Kermit and Lula Mae Johns, paternal grandfather, the Rev. Ronald Sharpe, paternal step-grandfather, Bill Davis, and nephew, Andre Mariscal.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed reading, going to the river, camping and spending time with family and friends. Her kids meant everything to her.
Survivors include her significant other of 17 years, Mike McMillan, of Atkinson; three children, Zachary Dale Smith, Tristian Gage Smith and Kaylee Mae McMillan; four step-children, Michael Cory McMillan, of Kentucky, Tina Marie Taylor (Chris), of Waycross, Tiffany Hicks (Patrick), of Waycross, and Tabitha McMillan, of Kentucky; her father, Richard Smith, of Atkinson; step-father, David Michael Davis, of Baxley; paternal grandmother, Betty Sharpe, of Hickox; paternal step-grandmother, Debbie Davis, of Atkinson; sister, Serena Jane Mariscal, of Hickox; and a brother, Allen Wayne Smith, of Nahunta; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and grandchildren.
A funeral will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Bachlott Community Church with the Rev. Eric Dixon and the Rev. Bruce Dean officiating.
Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service at the church.
Burial will follow in Bachlott Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Shannon Herrin, Robbie Batten, Demarus Johns, Dale Johns, William Lane and Cole Johns.
Family and pallbearers are asked to meet at the church Thursday by 10:30 a.m.

‘Robby’ Williams
Robert John “Robby” Williams, 18, of Nahunta, passed away Friday (May 22, 2015) at Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick.
Born in Jesup, he was the son of Matthew Jackson “Mack” Williams, of Hortense, and Terri Rowell Williams, of Nahunta. He was also preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Robert and Willodine Williams.
He was a member of Nahunta First Baptist Church and worked as a stocker for Walmart. He enjoyed fishing, riding four-wheelers and mechanic work.
Survivors include his father, Matthew Jackson “Mack” Williams, of Hortense; his mother, Terri Williams, of Nahunta; two brothers, William Ashley Bladow, of Nahunta, Matt Williams, of Woodbine; one sister and brother-in-law, Amanda Keene (Trey), of Nahunta; maternal grandparents, Johnny and Joyce Rowell, of Hilliard, Fla.; three aunts, Yvonne Wainright (C.B.), of Hickox, June Carol (Marvin) Snowden, of Folkston, and Rosella Pittman (Leroy), of Callahan, Fla.; two uncles, Tinky Williams (Brenda), of Hickox, and Donald Williams, of Nahunta; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be held this evening at 6 o’clock at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
A funeral will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. at Frye Funeral Home with the Rev. Jake Baum officiating.
Burial will follow in Corinth Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Tyler Rinehart, Trey Mobley, Sean Harrison, Brendon Waters, Robby O’Berry and Michael Wainright.
Honorary pallbearer will be Kyle Ahnberg.

Mildred G. McCall
Mildred Edwards Gaskin McCall, 79, died Tuesday morning (May 26, 2015) at Baptist Village Retirement Communities after an extended illness.
She was a native of Richmond, Va., who lived most of her life in Waycross. She was formerly employed by Bennett Brothers as a bookkeeper. Formerly a very active member of First Baptist Church, Blackshear, she was currently a member of Sweat Memorial Baptist Church.
She was the daughter of the late Robert Dewey Edwards and Margaret L. Ball Edwards. She was preceded in death by her first husband, James M. Gaskin, her second husband, Eugene McCall, her oldest daughter, Barbara Lee Wilder, and one brother, Richard Edwards.
Survivors include two daughters, Catherine Silver, of Waycross, and Pat Buckins (Larry), of Waycross; four grandchildren, Laura Lynn Wilder, James Scott Wilder, April Hanna (Morris) and Kevin Buckins; three great-grandchildren, Jonathan Wilder, Charlie Hanna and Walker Hanna.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Music Funeral Home.

A funeral for Jacquelyn Colvin Hall was held Tuesday afternoon at Music Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lee Ramsey officiating.
Burial followed in Oakland Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Christian James Hall, Dylan Veal, Rhett Veal, Todd Veal, Harry Winder and Paul Winder.
