ALMA — One man was killed and another seriously injured Thursday in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 1 about 5 miles south of here, said the Georgia State Patrol.
Ronald Inman, 69, of Thomaston, died in the 2:39 p.m. accident. He was taken to Bacon County Hospital where he was pronounced dead, said Amanda Dixon, GSP Waycross post secretary.
Ronald Boyles, 68, of Waycross, was taken by Bacon County ambulance to Bacon County Hospital for treatment of serious injuries, said Dixon.
Driving a Ford Ranger truck, Boyles was northbound on U.S. 1. Inman, driving a Chrysler van, was southbound on U.S. 1.
Dixon said Boyles made a sudden lane change to avoid a slow moving vehicle in front of him, causing his vehicle to spin counterclockwise. The van left the roadway and entered the median, then entered the southbound lanes of the roadway and entered the path of the Inman vehicle, causing the two to collide.
Trooper Myles Cooper was in charge of the accident investigation, which is continuing by the GSP State Collision Reconstruction Team, said Dixon.
