Laura Walker State Park will offer to its guests a “Roving Ranger” who will travel around the campground, escorted by an animal friend, to respond to questions Friday night at 6:30.
A day hike with a park naturalist on Big Creek Nature Trail, starting at the visitor’s center Saturday at 9:30 a.m.
The tour group will look for gopher tortoises, birds singing their morning songs and river otters. Everyone is reminded to bring bug spray, water and wear close toes shoes.
Guests may enjoy lunch time with the reptiles, helping to feed turtles and baby alligators at the Interpretive Center Saturday at 11 a.m.
At 4 p.m. Saturday in the Interpretive Center, it will be Story and a Craft Time.
The park naturalist will begin with a reading aloud an elementary-level spider story, then help young guests create a fun spider themed craft. This program has a $1 fee with all supplies provided.
