BROWNTOWN — The driver of a loaded log truck was slightly injured Wednesday when the rig overturned on Browntown Road in northeast Brantley County, although he declined transport to a medical facility for treatment, said the Georgia State Patrol.
Stephen Moore, 31, of a Florida address, complained of a neck injury following the 11:39 a.m. accident, said Amanda Dixon, GSP Waycross post secretary.
Driving a Freightliner loaded with long logs, Moore was northbound on Browntown Road. As he entered a left-hand curve, the rig ran off the east shoulder for 38 feet. The tractor then re-entered the roadway for 187 feet and began to rotate counterclockwise, into the oncoming traffic lane, said Dixon.
The rig then overturned onto the passenger side and slid 49 feet on the side in the roadway, continuing for another 144 feet north on the passenger side facing west. Dixon said the logs spilled onto the roadway and were located about 84 feet beyond the final rest of the rig.
Sgt. Terry Thrift investigated the accident.
