Local crime has been relatively light recently, however Waycross police are investigating a reported robbery on Charlotte Street between 9 and 9:15 p.m. Tuesday, said Waycross Police Capt. Benji Hersey.
Police were summoned to a house in the 700 block of Charlotte Street where a victim reported that a “live-in” relative choked him and took his cell phone, said Hersey.
The assailant was identified to police and an arrest is anticipated soon, said Hersey.
Meanwhile, Waycross police arrested a local woman on burglary charges stemming from an incident on April 2, said Hersey.
Kimberly Sowell, 34, of 911 Burgess St., was taken into custody Tuesday on a warrant charging her with burglary in the 200 block of Norwood Drive, said Hersey. She is additionally charged with theft by taking in connection with the same incident, he said.
She was being held in the Ware County jail.
She’s accused of stealing a moderate sum of cash from the ash tray of a vehicle. The victim told police he heard a door slam and looked out through a window in his home to see a female walking away at a swift pace.
