NAHUNTA — A former Long County High School assistant band director has been arrested on charges of sexual misconduct with students, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
Michael Antero Loredo was arrested Wednesday night at his home in Brantley County, the GBI said. He’s charged with sexual misconduct with students in his charge at the Ludowici school, including while on overnight band trips, the GBI said.
Loredo made his first court appearance Thursday morning and remains in the Brantley County jail without bond.
Agents said Loredo is accused of having an untold number of sexual relationships with students ranging from 10 to 17 years of age. They said more counts could be forthcoming as the investigation continues.
Agents said that one of the incidents is alleged to have occurred in a Long County High School classroom and another is said to have happened at a hotel while attending a band function.
