Alma S. Strickland
BLACKSHEAR — Alma Louise Shuman Strickland, 89, of Blackshear, died Monday afternoon (Feb. 8, 2016) at the Pierce County Nursing Home following an extended illness.
Born Feb. 6, 1927 in Salt Lake City, Utah, she was the daughter of the late Addison McKinley and Taccy Almina Fry Shuman. She was a retired LPN with Satilla Regional Medical Center following a 55-year career in nursing. She was a longtime member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Blackshear.
She was also a former member of the American Legion Post 181 Auxiliary, the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary in Waycross and the Eastern Star.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carroll Levell Strickland, and two sons, Eugene Strickland and Eddie Strickland.
Survivors include her two daughters, Sherion Mercer and Patty McIntosh (husband, Dan), both of Blackshear; three sons, Larry Strickland, Bobby Strickland (wife, Teresa), and Tony Strickland, all of Blackshear; 13 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a special niece, Pat Howlett, of Murray, Utah; a special friend, Sue Powers, of Evans; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will take place Wednesday morning at 11 o’clock in the chapel of Hart Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Memorialization is by cremation.

Jack Charles “Buster” Music, 67, died Monday (Feb. 8, 2016) at Mayo Clinic Health System in Waycross following a short illness.
Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Music Funeral Home.

Estelle Vining Gray
A funeral for Estelle Vining Gray was held Monday afternoon at Miles-Odum Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Freddie Smith and the Rev. Jimmy Howard officiating.
Burial followed in Oakland Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Keith Tillman, George Vining, Bobby Joiner, Ty Tillman, Dylan Tillman and Marcus Jimmy Tillman.
Miles-Odum Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
