Karen Lawton Boyd
Karen Patricia Lawton Boyd, 53, of Waycross, died Tuesday morning (Feb. 2, 2016) at her residence after an extended illness.
She was born in Spokane, Wash., to the late Clyde Ellis and Julia Mozell Hickox Lawton. She graduated from Waycross High School in 1980 and worked as a secretary for many years in the community. She loved animals, camping and watching her sons water ski. She was a member of Bridge Community Church.
Survivors include her husband of almost 36 years, Michael Boyd, of Waycross; three sons, Brandon Boyd, of Los Angeles, Calif., Blake Boyd (fiancee, Leslie Music), of Waycross, Brett Boyd, of Waycross; one grandson, Kameron Boyd; one brother, Michael Lawton (wife, Valerie), of Waycross; one nephew, Kyle Lawton; three nieces, Lisa Smith, Nicki Hartzog and Hope Dubose; several other relatives.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Elma Dean Sanders
Elma Dean Lewis Sanders, 81, died Wednesday (Feb. 3, 2016) at Hospice Satilla Hospice House following an extended illness.
She was born in Brantley County but resided most of her life in Waycross. She was a member of Central Baptist Church and the Co-Ed 4 Sunday School Class. She also worked Wednesday night supper at the church with her husband for many years.
She was a daughter of the late Carey Lewis and Verdie Herrin Lewis. She was married to the late James Edwin Sanders Sr., and also preceded in death by one sister and five brothers.
She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Sanders, of Waycross; two sons, Benjie Sanders (Sheila), of Waycross, and James Edwin Sanders Jr. (Ann), of Waycross; three grandsons, Gordon Lee Jr., of Waycross, Josh Sanders (Jamie), of Waycross, and Cricket Sanders, of Lake Park; four great-grandchildren, Cailie Sanders, Ansleigh Sanders, Allie Sanders and Jordan Sanders; her special pet, Dusty; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Friday at Oakland Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday at Music Funeral Home from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m.

Rev. Herman Moore
The Rev. Herman Moore, 78, of Blackshear, died Wednesday morning (Feb. 3, 2016) at his residence, surrounded by his loving family, following an extended illness.
Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Hart Funeral Home in Blackshear.

Barbara Thrift Byrd
A funeral for Barbara Thrift Byrd was held Wednesday afternoon at Suwannee Chapel Church of God of Prophecy with the Rev. Raymond Willis and the Rev. Leonard Pittman officiating.
Burial followed in Suwannee Chapel Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Rick Brothers, Robert Byrd, J.R. Herrin, Johnny Herrin, Edward Jones, Larry Loper and Michael Miller.
