A Waycross man and woman were arrested Wednesday after a Ware County detective came upon them “snorting” crushed narcotics in the parking lot of a convenience store, said Ware County Sheriff Randy Royal.
Kelly Clifford Hood, 29, of Heidi Drive, and Michelle Sharee Martin, 33, of Golfview Drive, were both taken into custody and charged with violation of the Georgia Controlled Substances Act and possession of a Schedule II drug, oxycodone, said Royal.
Detective Tron Lewis stopped at a convenience store in the 2000 block of Albany Avenue at 1:01 a.m. Wednesday. As he got out of his car, he observed two people in a car parked there engaged in what he believed was illegal behavior, said Royal.
“He approached them and both of them stepped out of the car,” the sheriff said. “He asked about what they were doing and both of them admitted they were snorting drugs.”
Lewis then asked permission to search them and their car and they agreed. Royal said inside the car, Lewis found a black bag and a container with blue pills identified as oxycodone, 30 milligram, and a straw that was being used. When he picked up the straw, a blue powdery substance fell from it.
Royal said Hood was seated behind the steering wheel and Martin was seated on the passenger side of the car.
Both were taken to the jail where they remained this morning, Royal said.
