Velma Jean Latham
Velma Jean Smith Latham, 87, died Thursday afternoon (Dec. 17, 2015) at the Golden Isles Hospice House in Brunswick after a short illness.
She was born in Douglas, daughter of the late Samp and Mariah O’Steen Smith. She married the late James Latham Sr. and they made Waycross their home for most of their lives.
She was a special education educator for the State of Georgia and was a faithful member of Brooks Methodist Church. She enjoyed spending time and cooking for her family.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, May Anderson and Erma Ricketson.
She is survived by a daughter, Deborah Jean Missildine (husband, Mark), of St. Simons Island; two sons, Jim Latham Jr. (wife, Angela), of Brunswick, Richard Allen Latham (wife, Cassie), of Brunswick; two grandchildren, Shane Alan Latham (wife, Brooke), of Smyrna, Brandy Latham, of Brunswick; four great-grandchildren, Cameron Dewolfe, Ada and Jase Latham, Corbin Edwards; a brother, J.T. Ricketson; five sisters, Drucilla Knowlton, Doris Batten, Frankie Smith, Mary Thacker, Myrtle Matthews; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A funeral will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at the Miles-Odum Funeral Home Chapel.
The family will receive friends beginning at 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Leon M. Manning
Leon Mitchell Manning, 64, of Manor, died Friday morning (Dec. 18, 2015) at his residence after an extended illness.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Miles-Odum Funeral Home.

Johnny H. Moore
A funeral service for Johnny H. Moore was held Friday morning at Music Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Chad Stanley officiating.
Burial followed in New Hope Cemetery in Ambrose.
Music Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
