Robert D. Tippins Sr.
BLACKSHEAR — Robert “Bob” Daniel Tippins Sr., 80, of Blackshear, died Wednesday evening (Aug. 10, 2016) at the Pierce County Nursing Home following a brief illness.
Born March 3, 1936 in Blackshear, he was a son of the late Asberry and Retta Leggett Tippins. He lived most of his life in Pierce County where he was a self-employed carpenter. He was a member of the Pierce County Fox Hunters Association and the Pierce County Hunting Club. He loved fox hunting, deer hunting, and fishing, but most important to him was his family. He attended Offerman Church of God.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Martha Mattair, Lillian Harrison and Ruth Wilson; and his brothers, W.C. “Dub” Tippins, Joe Tippins, Ernest Tippins and Morris “Bo” Tippins.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, JoAnn Tippins, of Blackshear; his daughter, Regina Tippins (fiancé, Billy Turbeville), of Blackshear; his son, Bobby Tippins Jr. (wife, Cassy), of Dearing; his grandchildren, Mason Tippins, of Dearing, and Tucker Tippins (fiancée, Brandy McGee), Mollie Tippins, Brayden Turbeville and Zowie Tippins, all of Blackshear; three sisters, Lena Youmans and Clara Milton, both of Augusta, and Molly Strickland (husband, Jack), of Bristol; special friends, Bootsie Boatright, Joe Clark and Randy Williamson, all of Blackshear; special friend and attending physician, Dr. Donald Waters, of Blackshear; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
A funeral will take place on Saturday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Hart Funeral Home with the Rev. Clinton Kearney and the Rev. Kevin Grissom officiating.
Burial will follow in the Shiloh Cemetery in Pierce County.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 12 until 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family wishes to express a sincere appreciation to the doctors, nurses and staff of the Pierce County Nursing Home for their love, care and hospitality.

Fred J. Tolbert, 83, of Blackshear, died Thursday afternoon (Aug. 11, 2016) at Hospice Satilla Hospice House after an extended illness.
