Rev. James Rigdon
ALMA — The Rev. James M. “J.M.” Rigdon, 90, of Alma, died at his home Thursday afternoon (March 31, 2016) after an extended illness.
He was a native of Coffee County but lived most of his life in Bacon County. He was a son of the late Andrew Jackson Rigdon and Rose Rigdon Rigdon and was also preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Douglas Rigdon, a brother, James Carlie Rigdon, three sisters, Lorean Rigdon, Merrell Ellis, Louise Johnson, and a son-in-law, Louis Baskin Jr.
The Rev. Rigdon was retired from Scapa of Waycross after 32 years of employment, a retired minister, a member of Wesley Chapel (Wolf Pit) Congregational Methodist Church and a veteran of WW II having served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include a son, Jimmy Carl Rigdon (Wanda), of Alma; three daughters, Jeannine Tanner (Dwayne), of Manor, Ann Scott (Billy), of Alma, Janice Helms (Chris), of Alma; a brother, James Preston Rigdon (Annette), of Cussetta, Ga.; a sister, Valdese Yawn (W.C.), of Hazlehurst; 11 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 o’clock Sunday at Wesley Chapel (Wolf Pit) Congregational Methodist Church with the Rev. T.F. Yawn, the Rev. Pet Hayes, the Rev. Danny Turner, the Rev. Dwayne Tanner, and a closing prayer by Jerald Douglas.
The body will be carried to the church Sunday at 10 a.m. to lie in state.
Interment will follow in Wolf Pit Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 6 to 9 o’clock.
Active pallbearers will be Jason Rigdon, Kevin Scott, Levi Baskin, David Lee, Shawn Lee, Scott Carter, Chad Hill and Will Griffis.
Wesley Chapel Congregational Methodist Church Men’s Sunday School Class is asked to serve as honorary.

Tina Marie Gano
Tina Marie Gano, 51, of Blackshear, passed away Friday (March 25, 2016) at Mayo Health System in Waycross.
Born in Winter Park, Fla., Feb. 23, 1965, she lived in Pierce County most of her adult life. She was a caregiver and will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother.
She was the daughter of the late Juanita Peacock Gano and was also preceded in death by twin sons, Tad and Corey, and by a brother, Donald Wayne Cothern.
Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jason Jackson, of Kingsland, and Kyle and Diamond Close, of Blackshear; her father and step-mother, Kenneth and Pat Gano, of Panama City, Fla.; a brother and sister-in-law, Kenny and Brenda Gano, of O’Steen, Fla.; a grandson, Zeke Close; a niece, Stacy Cothern, of Blackshear; two nephews, Travis Cothern, of Blackshear, and James Cothern (Shammra), of Patterson; and several other relatives and friends.
A memorial will be held at 3:30 this afternoon at the Pearson-Dial Chapel.
Memorialization will be by cremation.

Gussie Mae Lee Crews
Gussie Mae Lee Crews, 86, died Thursday morning (March 31, 2016) at Bayview Nursing Home after an extended illness.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Brantley County where she was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J.B. Crews, her parents, Harrison Lee and Sarah Jane Dowling Lee, and two grandsons, Trent Crews and Charles Anthony Riggins.
Survivors include three daughters, Janice Riggins (Charles), of Hoboken, Clara Tapley (Thomas E. Jr.), of Waycross, and Angie McArthur (Kevin), of Waycross; two sons, Jimmy Crews (Linda), of Waycross, and Travis Crews (Dana), of Nahunta; five grandchildren, Taite Crews (Kim), James Pruitt, Betsy Ward (Benson), Trey Tapley (Megan), Maggie McArthur and Kipp McArthur; seven great-grandchildren, Lanie Ennis (husband, Justin), Cole Riggins, Molly Myer, Fisher and Avery Crews, Sibby and Maisie Ward; four great-great-grandchildren, Trig, Tucker, Thatcher and Teller Ennis; one sister, Delorice Joyner, of Waycross; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. today at Music Funeral Home Chapel.
The family will receive friends 10 until 11 a.m. today at the funeral home.

BLACKSHEAR — Katherine Elaine “Kathy” Faulkner Echols, 59, of Blackshear, passed away Thursday afternoon (March 31, 2016).

Robert Lee Justice
A funeral for Robert Lee Justice was held Friday afternoon at Miles-Odum Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Doug Walker, Johnny Ray Strickland and Freddie Strickland officiating.
Burial followed in Greenlawn Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Johnny Ray Strickland, Freddie Strickland, Craig Driggers, Steve Kiser, Randy Strickland, Ken Justice and Andrew Strickland.
Military honors were provided by the Moody Air Force Base Honor Guard.
Miles-Odum Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
