Zane Markle, a senior at Pierce County High School, will have his Eagle Scout Court of Honor at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Thursday at 6 p.m.
He is the son of Chris and Heather Markle.
The community is invited to the Court of Honor.
Markle’s Eagle Scout project was to construct a handicap accessible deck for the Easter Seals’ Megan’s House, the local children’s respite home. Markle said he wanted to do something for the home that he has become familiar with over the years.
Megan’s House gave him a few ideas of what was needed and he went to work. Markle first secured funds in order to build the deck.
He would like to thank Mac 44, The Jones Company, JCR, Coastal Forklift, Bill Wilson, Larry Gattis, Donald and Lisa Whitley, Chris and Heather Markle for the money put to this project.
Markle even gave of his money to this project too. He then built the deck with the help of Marcus Corbitt, Corey Bennett and Terry Harris.
After he was done with the donations for the deck, he had enough money left over to donate $87.50 to Megan’s House.
Markle started Boy Scouts when he was 11 years old. Throughout the last seven years he has enjoyed camp-outs, summer camps and learning what all Scouts had to offer. His best memory is the 10-day trip Troop 309 took to the Grand Canyon. He became a Life Scout in 2012.
Markle plans to go into law after he graduates next month.
