A Waycross woman was injured Friday in a three-vehicle accident on Carswell Avenue when a driver ran into the rear of another causing a chain reaction collision, said Waycross Police Capt. Tommy Cox.
Bertha Lee Richardson, 75, a passenger in one of the vehicles, was taken by Ware County Emergency Medical Service ambulance to Mayo Clinic Health System in Waycross for treatment of complaint of injury, said Cox.
Skylar Yaun, 21, of Waycross, was charged with following too closely after a 2005 Toyota Pre-Runner he was driving struck the rear of a 2012 Toyota Camry driven by Johnnie Mae Leggett, 65, of Waycross, causing that car to strike the rear of a gold-colored Toyota Camry driven by a man identified only as a hispanic male who jumped out of his car and fled on foot, said Cox.
The Camry was stopped, waiting for a train to pass, he said. Richardson was in the Leggett vehicle. Officer Donna Waters investigated the 3:32 p.m. accident.
Meanwhile, in Patterson a Baxley woman was slightly injured Friday when her car collided with a loaded log truck as she slowed in front of the rig and the semi driver could not avoid contact, said the Georgia State Patrol.
Adaiah Futch, 35, was taken to a medical facility by private vehicle, according to the report narrated by post secretary Amanda Dixon.
Driving a Hyundai Sonata, Futch was eastbound on Georgia Highway 32, followed by an International tractor trailer driven by Elijah Williams, 49, of Waycross. Dixon said Futch de-celerated and steered left. Williams tried to avoid hitting her by veering onto the grass shoulder but was unable to avoid striking the car at a driveway located at 2878 Georgia Highway 32, said Dixon.
Sgt. Terry Thrift, post commander, investigated the 10:19 a.m. accident.
