BLACKSHEAR — A Surrency woman was arrested Thursday in the parking lot of Wall’s IGA store here after she tried to sell some methadone pills to a volunteer firefighter, said Blackshear Police Chief Chris Wright.
Cheryl Hinson, 52, of Surrency, is charged with possession of methadone with intent to distribute, possession of a drug-related object (a crack pipe) and shoplifting, said Wright.
Wright said she had just purchased the meds, having had a prescription filled minutes earlier at a Blackshear drug store.
In her purse was found a crack pipe used to ingest crack cocaine and two coffee cups that she had shoplifted from the pharmacy, said Wright.
“Sgt. Charlie Wichman responded after we got the call about 4 p.m. and confronted the woman,” said Wright. “She had a supply of methadone she had just got from the pharmacy.”
Wichman took her into custody and placed her in the Pierce County jail where she remained this morning, Wright said.
