FOLKSTON — A man and woman were injured Wednesday when their truck crashed on U.S. 1 at its intersection with Old Dixie Highway, said the Georgia State Patrol.
The driver, Carol Faye Murray, 70, of St. George, and her passenger, Charlie Thomas Murray, 70, of St. George, were both taken by a Charlton County Emergency Medical Service ambulance to Mayo Clinic Health System in Waycross for treatment of their injuries, said Donna Dismuke, GSP Waycross post secretary.
Driving a 2000 Ford F-150 pickup truck, Carol Murray was southbound on U.S. 1 approaching the intersection of Old Dixie Highway. The truck veered off the wet shoulder for 122 feet and crossed both the east and west lanes of Old Dixie Road. The truck continued for another 89 feet, striking a wooden sign pole. After impact, the truck continued for another 85 feet, coming to rest facing southwest in the yard of an abandoned house.
Trooper Dustin Stone investigated the 12:07 p.m. accident.
