In one of two traffic accidents this morning, a Jamestown woman was injured when her car ran off Vann Road and struck a power pole as she was distracted from focusing on the road, said Ware County Sheriff Randy Royal.
Diane Cannon, 52, of Church Street, Waycross, was examined at the scene by Ware County Emergency Medical technicians, then taken to Mayo Clinic Health System in Waycross for treatment of neck and back injuries, said Royal.
Driving a 2001 Chevrolet Impala, Cannon was eastbound on Vann Road toward Jamestown Road when she looked away from the road, said Royal. “When she looked back up, she was headed for the power pole,” he said.
Ware County deputy Zabrae Williams investigated the 6:38 a.m. accident.
In a separate accident, a West Green man lost control of his car on a curve on Lucy Moore Road this morning, causing the vehicle to careen off the road and strike a tree, said Royal.
Steven Dubberly, 21, was taken by Ware County Emergency Medical Service ambulance to Mayo Clinic Health System in Waycross for treatment of injuries including a neck injury, said Royal.
Driving a 1998 Toyota Camry, Dubberly was headed south on Lucy Moore Road when he entered a curve. Royal said the car ran off the road and slammed into a tree.
Ware County Fire Department personnel responded to the scene of the 6:25 a.m. crash but did not have to use any extrication tools, said a spokesman.
Deputy Daniel Guest was in charge of the investigation.
