Sheriff’s deputies have arrested two people on bench warrants and for drug possession, said Ware County Sheriff Randy Royal.
Drug Unit Detective Tron Lewis and Drug Unit Sgt. Robert Wise were conducting surveillance of a residence in the 2200 block of Monroe Street where persons wanted on active warrants were known to reside or frequent Friday at 3:49 p.m., Royal said.
They observed Chance Lee Strickland, 29, of Astoria Road, and Samantha Denise Miller, 31, of Mill Pond Road, Hoboken, exit the residence and enter a silver Nissan Sentra parked there, Royal said.
The deputies approached and detained the occupants for the purpose of serving the felony bench warrants, Royal said.
A subsequent search of the car found a clear, plastic bag containing a crystal-like substance, weighing one gram, that field tested positive for methamphetamine, and a bag containing a green, leafy substance that field tested positive for marijuana, on the floor of the car, Royal said.
Strickland was charged with possession of meth and possession of marijuana less than one ounce, and Miller was charged with possession of meth, the sheriff said. Both were transported to Ware County jail.
