A three-vehicle accident on Knight Avenue near Knight Circle injured two people Monday afternoon, said Ware County Sheriff Randy Royal.
It was one of a couple of local collisions causing injuries Monday.
Laurie Boyd, 44, and Lauren Boyd, 16, of Huckabee Road, were taken by Ware County Emergency Medical Service ambulance to Mayo Clinic Health System in Waycross for treatment of minor injuries, said Royal.
Laurie Boyd, driving a 2011 Nissan Altima, was westbound on Knight Avenue when she began to slow because of children on the edge of the roadway. Following behind her was a 1996 Dodge driven by Christopher Burnett, 20, of Bethany Lane. Royal said Burnett failed to slow behind the Boyd car, struck the Boyd car, then veered into the opposite lane and hit a 2015 GMC Yukon driven by Medea Shuman, 53, of Seminole Springs Road.
Trooper Ray Strickland is investigating the accident with assistance from Ware Cpl. Bobby Aldridge.
Meanwhile, two people were slightly injured Monday when a driver turning left off the South Georgia Parkway onto George Street turned into the path of a vehicle, said Waycross Police Capt. Tommy Cox.
Richard Smith Jr., 21, and his passenger, Jasmine Page, 16, both of Waycross, were treated at the scene by Ware County Emergency Medical Technicians, said Cox.
Driving a 2010 Hyundai Sonata, Freddy Williams was eastbound on the South Georgia Parkway, approaching the intersection with George Street, which is controlled by a traffic light. Cox said Williams turned before it was clear and entered the path of a 1996 Ford Taurus driven by Smith. Both vehicles had extensive damage, Cox said.
Officer Derrick Cobb charged Williams with failure to yield, said Cox.
