A man and a woman were arrested Tuesday evening after a tip received by lawmen led to a traffic stop where illegally obtained meds were discovered, said Ware County Sheriff’s Capt. Neil Skerratt speaking for Sheriff Randy Royal.
The driver, Joseph Crandon Puckett, 54, of the 3100 block of Slash Pine Road, and his passenger, Samantha Christina Schuyler, 34, of the 1600 block of Hood Street, were both charged with possession of a Schedule II drug (hydromorphone) and possession of drugs not in their original container, said Skerratt.
He said Puckett was also charged with possession of Schedule II drugs with intent to distribute.
Sgt. Robert Weiss, acting on a tip from an informant about suspicious activity at a convenience store on State Street, stopped a 2005 Toyota Tundra at Augusta Avenue and West Jackson Street at 4:17 p.m. Tuesday and made contact with the driver and passenger, said Skerratt.
After Detective James Cox arrived to assist, Puckett stepped out of the truck and a cellophane packet fell out of his shorts and landed near Sgt. Weiss’s boot. Skerratt said the packet contained several Schedule II pills.
Both Puckett and Schuyler were taken to the Ware County jail where they remained this morning.
