Firefighters locally are urging citizens to change the batteries in their smoke alarms at the same time they change their clocks back to standard time tonight.
Daylight Saving Time ends Sunday at 2 a.m.
The “Change Your Clock, Change Your Battery” fire safety program is sponsored by the International Association of Fire Chiefs and the American Burn Association.
Make sure smoke alarms are in working order, it is advised, change the battery and clean dust from the alarm device.
The “fall back” time change occurs in the autumn, giving us an extra hour of sleep. When we “spring forward” in March we will lose an hour.
