Three people were injured Tuesday when a vehicle went out of control on Old Waltertown Road at Ternest Road, struck a tree in a yard and overturned, said Ware County Sheriff Randy Royal.
The driver, Chrilyn Shelbie Smith, 18, of Waycross, and her passengers, Katherine Hickox, 14, of Waycross, and Christina Hood, 14, of Waycross, were all injured in the crash and were transported by ambulance to Mayo Clinic Health System in Waycross for treatment of their injuries, said Royal.
A 2-year-old girl, Elaine Johnson, appeared not to have injuries, the sheriff said.
Driving a 2003 Honda Accord, Smith was southbound on Old Waltertown Road when the car ran off the right side of the roadway. Royal said the driver over-corrected the steering, causing the car to go out of control and skid off the roadway again.
The car then struck a tree in the yard of 4268 Old Waltertown Road and overturned, said Royal.
Ware Sgt. Bobby Aldridge assisted Georgia State Patrol Trooper Greg Stone in the investigation, which is continuing.
The accident occurred at 7:41 a.m.
