ALMA — Three people were injured Monday in a two-vehicle crash on Georgia 32 near its intersection with Atlantic Road, said the Georgia State Patrol.
Both drivers, Sonja Cobb, 35, of Nicholls, and Cortez Gifford, 25, of Broxton, and a passenger in the Gifford vehicle, Termaine Clemons, 25, of Broxton, were all transported by Bacon County ambulance to Bacon County Hospital for treatment of their injuries, said Amanda Dixon, GSP Waycross post secretary.
Driving a Chevrolet Avalanche, Cobb was eastbound on Georgia 32, slowing to make a left turn onto Atlantic Road. Dixon said Gifford, driving a Chevrolet Sonic, was also eastbound and started to pass an unidentified truck and the Cobb vehicle, just as she started to turn.
Dixon said the Gifford vehicle struck the side of the Cobb vehicle, causing the Cobb vehicle to rotate clockwise for 46 feet before coming to final rest. The Gifford vehicle then began to spin counterclockwise while sliding east. The Gifford vehicle then slid into a large ditch, struck the bottom of the ditch and overturned several times for about 82 feet.
Trooper Jeffrey Robinson investigated the 3:20 p.m. accident.
