A Brunswick teenager who sustained a serious head injury in a rodeo barrel race accident at the Ware County Saddle Club in September is continuing to improve at a rehabilitation center in Atlanta, said Ware County Sheriff Randy Royal.
Kyle Louis Chandler, 17, was initially taken to UF Health Jacksonville with serious injuries, said Royal.
Several weeks ago he was transferred to the rehab facility in Atlanta and has made a “miraculous recovery,” said Royal.
Chandler is doing exceptionally well now, Royal said, and the family has hopes of him returning home before long.
“His family gives all the credit to the Lord for His mercy and thanks the people of this area for the many, many prayers that were offered up for Kyle after his accident,” said Royal.
Chandler’s horse fell and Chandler’s head slammed against the ground, said Royal. The weight of the horse initially trapped the teen on the ground momentarily and injured his leg.
“His family said they are humbled and thankful for God’s goodness,” said Royal.
