A woman who ran a red light at the intersection of Ava Street and Plant Avenue Monday was injured when a tractor trailer hit her sport utility vehicle in the intersection, said Waycross Police Capt. Tommy Cox.
Felicia Walker, 43, of Waycross, was taken by Ware County Emergency Medical Service ambulance to Mayo Clinic Health System in Waycross for treatment of unspecified injuries, said Cox.
Walker was charged with a red light violation, Cox said.
Driving a 2007 Jeep Compass, Walker was headed north on Ava Street, approaching the intersection with Plant Avenue. Cox said a 2007 International tractor trailer driven by Monroe Thompson, 58, of Dublin, was westbound on Plant Avenue.
As he entered the intersection under the green light, Thompson said he saw the Walker vehicle enter from his left. His rig hit the passenger side of the Jeep, causing extensive damage to it.
Officer Robert Benton investigated the 8:36 a.m. crash.
