BLACKSHEAR — A Nahunta man was arrested by Blackshear police Tuesday night after he tried to flee an officer who was trying to stop his vehicle for speeding, said Blackshear Police Chief Chris Wright.
Dalton Flannagan, 23, of Nahunta, was taken into custody shortly after 9 p.m. He is charged with possession of methadone (Schedule II), possession of drug related objects, fleeing, attempting to elude police and speeding, said Wright.
At 9 p.m. Tuesday, Officer Joey Daniels attempted to stop a white 2006 Jeep Laredo on College Avenue for speeding, 52 in a 35 mph speed zone, said Wright. The driver refused to stop but was quickly boxed in by other officers who were on patrol in the area.
When police got him out of the car, they found him to be in possession of methadone, a Schedule II drug, a pair of digital scales and packaging materials, said Wright.
Flanagan was booked into the Pierce County jail where he remained this morning.
