BLACKSHEAR — Beginning with the 2015-2016 school year, available slots in the Pierce County pre-kindergarten program will be filled by lottery drawing.
Registration packets will be available for pick up at each school — Blackshear Elementary, Patterson Elementary and Midway Elementary — March 9-13.
Parents may pick up an application and return the completed application and required documents between the hours of 8 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. during the designated week.
Applications with all required documents must be returned no later than 2 p.m. on Friday, March 13, to be part of the lottery drawing. After that time, packets will be accepted for the waiting list only.
The drawing will be held on March 25. Official letters of enrollment/waiting list will be mailed on March 26.
Duplicate entries will not be accepted. Registration lists from all schools will be cross-checked to ensure duplicate registration packets are not submitted at multiple schools.
Along with the completed application, the following items are needed:
•Child’s Social Security card
•Birth certificate (children must be 4 years of age by Sept. 1, 2015 to attend)
•Current immunization record (revised Form 3300 from the health department)
•Verification of Pierce County residency (two different documents will be required. Parents may use current utility or telephone bills that indicate services are received at their present address. A cell phone bill is not an acceptable form of documentation.)
•Proof of participation in the following programs, if applicable
•SSI
•Food Stamps
•Georgia Temporary Support Grant
•Medicaid
•TANF (Temporary Assistance to Needy Families)
Again, only completed applications with all required documents which were returned no later than 2 p.m. Friday, March 13, will be a part of the lottery drawing.
