Lena S. Anderson
Lena Shaw Anderson passed away peacefully Friday (Oct. 2, 2015) at Hospice Satilla Hospice House after an extended illness, with loved ones at her bedside.
A celebration of life service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Powerhouse of Faith, 1608 Louisiana Ave. The body will lie in repose in the church from 10 a.m. until the service hour. Burial will follow in Hazzard Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 5 until 8 p.m.
She was a proud graduate of Center High School, class of 1967, Savannah State College and the University of Phoenix. She was a lifetime member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. Waycross Alumni Chapter and a member of the Order of Easter Star, Waycross Chapter, and Daughters of Isis Darien Chapter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Wesley Anderson Jr., and a brother, Juan Farmer.
She is survived by two daughters, Victoria E. (Michael) Sutherland and Clarissa M.A. (Lorenzo) Davis; five grandchildren, Kendra D. Sutherland, Chillus W. Sutherland, Michael L. Sutherland II, Savannah L.A. Davis and Loren A.A. Davis; brothers and sisters, Glynn Daniels, Jeanette Thomas, Gaylord Daniels, Michael Daniels, Tyrone Shaw, Daphne Bell, Glenda Price, Annette Smith-Heard, Sharon Smith-Chatman, Angela Smith, Tonya Richardson, and LaVan Smith Shaheed; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and sorrowing friends.

Rev. Nathaniel Hill
The Rev. Nathaniel Hill, of Jacksonville, Fla., 79, died Wednesday (Sept. 30, 2015) at UF Health, Jacksonville, after an illness.
A native of Ware County, he has lived in Jacksonville, Fla., for many years. He was the son of the late Bishop Albert Hill Sr. and Artlia Huntley Hill.
Funeral arrangements will be announced later by Fluker Funeral Home.

Charles McArthur Sr.
A memorial service for Charles William McArthur Sr., 85, of Waycross, took place Sunday afternoon at 3 o’clock in the chapel of Hart Funeral Home with the Rev. Edward Cady officiating.
Memorialization was by cremation.
Hart Funeral Home of Blackshear was in charge of arrangements.

John W. Taylor II
A funeral for John Wesley Taylor II, 78, of Blackshear, took place Saturday evening at 7 o’clock in the chapel of Hart Funeral Home with Brother Albert Sutton officiating.
A private burial service took place Sunday morning at 11 o’clock in the Blackshear City Cemetery with the Rev. Andy Velie officiating.
Hart Funeral Home of Blackshear was in charge of arrangements.

Edward E. Stephens
OFFERMAN — A graveside service for Edward Eugene “Gene” Stephens, 68, was held Sunday afternoon at 3 o’clock in the Offerman Cemetery.
Officiating was the Rev. Mike Lee.
Pearson-Dial Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Sharon Batten Dixon
BLACKSHEAR — The funeral for Sharon Diane Batten Dixon, 63, was held Saturday morning at 11 o’clock at Emmanuel Baptist Church.
Officiating was the Rev. Mike Stone.
Interment was in the Waters Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Ray Boyett, Kyle Copeland, Clif Bakhsh, Korey Murray, Timmy Thomas and Greg Douberly.
Honorary pallbearers were members of the Adult Ladies Sunday School class.

A graveside service for Ruby Thrift Lee took place Saturday morning in Kettle Creek Cemetery with the Rev. Glenn Lindsey officiating.
