Isaac G. Williams
A celebration of life service for Isaac G. “Bugara” Williams, 64, who died Wednesday evening (Nov. 18, 2015) at his residence after an illness, will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, 417 Wilkerson St., with the church pastor, the Rev. Walter Scott Jr., offering words of comfort.
The body will lie in repose at the church Saturday from 9 a.m. until the hour of service.
Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery.
Friends are being received at the home of his sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Steve Hamm, 1109 Mosely St.
He was born Jan. 19, 1951, in Waycross, to the late Cora Williams Reid. He received his formal education from the Waycross Public School System and graduated from Center High School in 1969. He was a former employee of Scapa Inc. and the mobile home building industry.
“Bugara,” as he was affectionately known, was preceded in death by a sister, Ava Shide, three brothers, Jerry Lee Cooper, Willie Gene Williams and Eugene Rogers, and his grandparents, Alfred and Lucy Williams.
Those left to cherish his memory include two daughters, Kena (Tre’O) Hill and Jasmine Williams, both of Waycross; two sisters, Shirley Stirrup, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Linda M. Hamm (Steve), of Waycross; five grandchildren; one uncle, John Henry Williams (Barbara), of Milton, Fla.; three aunts, Elizabeth J. Tindle, of Milton, Fla., Lucy Mae Powell, of Waycross, and Rosetta Williams, of Chesapeake, Va.; and nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and a host of friends.

Randall E. Thornburgh
Clessie Earl Thornburgh, of Okmulgee, Okla., died Oct. 22, 2007. (Born March 11, 1922.)
Mildred “Biddy” Riggins Thornburgh, of Waycross, died Oct. 31, 2015. (Born Sept. 6, 1923.)
The couple spent most of their lives traveling with the U.S. Air Force where they made many great friends and memories. They retired in Waycross briefly, and finally made Atlanta their home.
Their son, Randall E. Thornburgh, died Feb. 4, 2015. (He was born in Fort Worth, Texas.)
He was a retired CPA who resided in Atlanta for most of his adult life.
Survivors include Susan Thornburgh, her son, Noah Davis, her daughter-in-law, Beth Davis, Chris and Terrie Johnson.
A graveside memorial service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Ben James Cemetery.
Family and friends will gather at Jerry J’s on Plant Avenue at 11:30 a.m.
Troy Allen Hickox
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Troy Allen Hickox, 68, of Patterson, passed away Monday morning (Nov. 23, 2015) at St. Vincent’s Medical Center – Southside.
Born in Blackshear, Jan. 3, 1947, he lived in Pierce County most of his life. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served during the Vietnam conflict and was retired from CSX Transportation where he worked as a machinist. He loved to play the guitar and checkers and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He was a son of the late Ellis Lonnie and Margaret Dixon Hickox. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Velma Vickers, and two brothers, Harold Hickox and Billy Hickox.
Survivors include his wife of forty-nine and a half years, Bertha Johnson Hickox, of Patterson; two daughters, Teresa Hendrix, of Hoboken, and Brenda Sauls (Nick Johnston), of Blackshear; a son, Robert (Angie) Lane, of Jesup; four sisters, Janice (Robert) Dixon, Vonice (Juarez) Strickland, and Patricia (Ronald) Purvis, all of Blackshear, and Sharon (Isham) Roberson, of Screven; a brother, Donald Hickox, of Waycross; six grandchildren, Kelly (Cory) Griffin, Leah Hendrix (Ivan Daniels), Britney Sauls (Hank Norman), Ryan Sauls, Kirsten Lane and Ethan Lane; five great-grandchildren, Kingsley Norman, Kye Griffin, Elaina Daniels, Zeb Norman and Deklan Daniels; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
The funeral will be held at 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon at the Pearson-Dial Chapel.
Interment will be in the Laura Chapel Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 6 until 8 o’clock Friday evening at the funeral home.
