Shirley Dale Hopkins
Shirley Dale Walker Hopkins, 83, of Waycross, died Saturday evening (Nov. 19, 2016) at Baptist Village Nursing Home after an extended illness.
She was born in Patterson to the late Omar and Nellie Walker and lived most of her life in Waycross. She was an airline stewardess for American Airlines and retired from the Waycross Police Department. She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church for many years and loved working in her garden and cooking large meals for her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Echols, Maxie Walker, and a brother, O.W. Walker.
She is survived by her husband, James Hopkins, of Waycross; two sons, Michael Hopkins (Penny), of Waycross, Jim Hopkins, of Waycross; a grandson, James Taylor Hopkins, of Waycross; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Oakland Cemetery.

Linda Gale Douglas
Linda Gale Douglas, 69, died Friday afternoon (Nov. 18, 2016) at her residence in Blackshear following a long and courageous battle with ALS Lou Gehrig’s Disease.
She was born in Knoxville, Tenn., daughter of the late Joseph Marley Mathis and Freda Mae Matlock Mathis. She was raised in Miami, Fla., and lived the last 48 years of her life in Waycross and Blackshear.
She was employed at Walmart of Waycross as the photo manager and won numerous awards for being the top manager in her district. She had to retire in 2002 because the ALS was affecting her speech and people could not understand her. Most people thought of her as the pretty little red head with the beautiful smile and weird accent.
She enjoyed working in her yard. Everyone was always complimenting her on how beautiful her yard was. She also loved to gamble at the casinos in Biloxi, Miss.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Betty White, of Blackshear.
She is survived by her husband, Johnny Fullard, of Blackshear; two sons, Tommy Douglas (wife, Diane), and Robbie Douglas, both of Blackshear; one step-son, Floyd Fullard, of Blackshear; one daughter, Victoria Marez (husband, Fred); two step-daughters, Teresa Fullard, of Waycross, and Christie Fullard, of Valdosta; two sisters, Maylene Morris (husband, Archie) of Tennessee, and Barbara Lang (husband, Leland), of Florida; and one brother, Bobby Mathis (wife, Edith), of Mississippi.
Memorialization will be by cremation.

Bobby E. Crews Sr.
Bobby Edward Crews Sr., 54, of Waycross, died Saturday afternoon (Nov. 19, 2016) at Mayo Clinic Health System in Waycross of a sudden illness.
He was born in Waycross to the late Robert Lee Crews and Delia Christine Taylor Hewett. He spent most of his life in Waycross where he was a skilled carpenter for Stetson Builders, Albert Hersey Construction and Lamar Johnson Construction.
He was passionate about the outdoors where he loved to fish, camp and work on his truck. His greatest loves in life were anything that involved his wife, children and grandbaby.
He is survived by his loving wife, Loree Crews, of Waycross; a daughter, Angela Crews (Tiffany), of Brunswick; a son, Bobby Edward Crews Jr. (Mathew Couch), of Brunswick; his mother, Christine Hewett, of Waycross; a step-son, David Michael Reynolds Jr., of Waycross; a granddaughter, Payton Shadron, of Brunswick; three sisters, Elaine Hodges (Wayne), of Waresboro, Lorraine Dowling, of Blackshear, Peggy Adams (Everett), of Waynesville; two brothers, Robert Crews, of Waycross, Aaron Crews, of Waycross; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A funeral will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Miles-Odum Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 1 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Miles-Odum Funeral Home.

A funeral for Annie Catherine McCray was held Saturday afternoon at Miles-Odum Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Terrance Waters officiating.
Burial followed in Greenlawn Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Brian Byrd, Ben Dryden, John Byrd, Daniel Mathis, Billy Murray, Travis Cox and Hank Williams.

Fluressa Greene Bell
A funeral for Fluressa Greene Bell took place Saturday afternoon in the Music Funeral Home Chapel with words of comfort by Pastor William Simmons, scripture of Old Testament by Elder Earlis Slack Jr., New Testament by Pastor Larry O’Hara and eulogy by Pastor Carlos White.
Burial was in Hazzard Hill Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were Seth Tyus, Dominique White, Dee White, Michael Scott, Kenneth Slack, Richard Love and Alonzo Bell.

Bertie Lou Dickerson
OFFERMAN — The funeral for Bertie Lou Thornton Dickerson, 95, was held Saturday morning at 11 o’clock at Offerman Baptist Church.
Officiating was the Rev. James Lightsey.
Interment was in the Blackshear Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Richie Dickerson, John Sanders, John Varnes, Randall Davis, Wayne Davis, Robert Dixon and Wade Chancey.
Honorary pallbearers were members of the Faith Sunday School Class.
