Simon Carlyle Sweat
Simon Carlyle Sweat, 87, died Sunday afternoon (Nov. 8, 2015) at the Mayo Clinic Health System following a brief illness.
He was born and raised in Pierce County but had lived in Fernandina Beach, Fla. most of his life. He retired from Smurfit Paper Mill after 33 years of employment.
He was raised in Beulah Baptist Church in Pierce County but had become a member of First Baptist Church of Fernandina Beach, Fla. after moving to Fernandina Beach.
He was a son of the late Simon Peter Sweat and Nellie Carter. He was married to the late Lawanna Mattox Sweat. His biological mother passed away when he was very young. He was also preceded in death by his stepmother who raised him, Corrie Bell Sweat.
He is survived by four children, Carl Sweat (Kim), of Yulee, Fla., Becky Sweat, of Jacksonville, Fla., Joseph Sweat, of Fernandina Beach, Fla., and Patricia Sweat, of Fernandina Beach, Fla.; three grandchildren, Jaime Sweat, of Yulee, Fla., Jason Sweat (Daniela), of Yulee, Fla., and Alison Russell, of Jacksonville, Fla.; two great-grandchildren, Christian Sweat and Caiden Sweat; four siblings, Angie Sweat, of Brunswick, Shelby Sweat (Jewelene), of Waycross, Frank Sweat (Linda), of Brunswick, and Gloria Rhoddenberry (Johnny), of Blackshear; a sister-in-law, Marlene Sweat, of Waycross; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Beulah Baptist Church in Pierce County. Burial will follow in Beulah Church Cemetery.
The family will be receiving friends this evening at Music Funeral Home in Waycross from 5 until 7 o’clock.

Winnie C. Wade
Winnie C. Wade, 83, died Sunday afternoon (Nov. 8, 2015) at Baptist Village Retirement Communities following an extended illness.
She was a native and life-long resident of Ware County, the daughter of the late Jake Lafayette Clements and Esther Shuman Clements. She was a 1949 graduate of Waycross High School.
An active member of Winona Park United Methodist Church for many years, she was a member of the church choir, had served for more than 37 years as financial secretary, was a former president of the United Methodist Women, former Sunday School teacher and former Youth Group Leader.
She had formerly been employed in the office of the Waycross Coca-Cola Bottling Company and as a bank teller with Atlantic Coast Federal Credit Union, SunTrust Bank, and PrimeSouth Bank for many years before retiring.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Ed Wade, of Waycross; a son, Eddie Wade (wife Anna), of Waycross; a grandson Matt Wade (friend Kaitlyn), of West Lafayette, Ind.; a sister, Opal Clements, of Waycross; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Oakland Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Music Funeral Home.

Eunice Louise Jackson
Eunice Louise Jackson walked into everlasting life Sunday (Nov. 8, 2015).
She was born in Ware County.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Jackson Sr.
She is survived by four sons, Curtis Jackson Jr., of Chapel Hill, N.C., Rudolph Jackson, of Atlanta, Ronnie Jackson, of Richmond, Va., and Clemist Jackson, of Marietta; a brother, Cleveland Moore, of Waycross; three sisters, Mattie M. Paulk, of Waycross, Letha Jones, of Virginia, and Clara Bryant, of Hinesville; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, several aunts, other relatives and friends.
The funeral will be held Friday, 1 p.m., at New Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, 901 State St., with visitation starting at noon.
Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery.

Vivian Lee ‘Bib’ Hiers
MERSHON — The funeral for Vivian Lee “Bib” Hiers, 68, was held Monday morning at 11 o’clock at Walkerville Baptist Church.
Officiating was the Rev. Greg Carter.
Interment was in the Ramah Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Kevin Moore, Carl Strickland, Randy Bennett, Kyle Moore, Glen Strickland and Monroe Crews.
Honorary pallbearers were members of Walkerville Baptist Church.
Pearson-Dial Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
