Three women caught in possession of a large quantity of drugs were arrested Thursday in the parking lot of a local hospital, said Ware County Sheriff Randy Royal.
Shela Marie Joyner, 58, of Creswell Street, Cami Rebecca Guess, 27, of Scapa Road, and Britney Charlene Drazell, 25, of Blackshear, were all into custody and charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of hydrocodone and possession of hydrocodone with intent to distribute, possession of morphine and possession of morphine with intent to distribute, possession of oxycodone and possession of oxycodone with intent to distribute and possession of drug related objects, said Royal.
They were in the Ware County jail.
Royal said the drugs and paraphernalia were seized and the pickup truck they were in was impounded.
Ware County Sheriff Sgt. Robert Weiss, Detective James Cox and Deputy Brian Newman responded to a parking lot at Mayo-Waycross after receiving a tip from a citizen, said Royal.
Lawmen were told that one of the women was wanted for probation violation in Brantley County, said Royal. Joyner was on felony probation for possession of opiates. She had a Fourth Amendment waiver allowing lawmen to search her at any time and any location, the sheriff said.
The officers found the women in possession of a bottle containing 44 morphine pills of 100 mg each (Schedule II), another bottle containing 11 hydrocodone (Schedule II) pills, several hypodermic needles, small plastic bags containing oxycodone, methamphetamine and crystal meth, Royal said.
He added that after arriving at the jail, a body search turned up more pills and more hypodermic needles.
All three remained in the Ware County jail this morning.
