Two local men were injured Tuesday when a deer entered the path of a pickup truck and the driver lost control, the vehicle striking a pine tree, said Ware County Sheriff Randy Royal.
The driver, Colby Taylor, 22, and his passenger, Stacy Taylor, 43, both of Cecil Taylor Road, were taken by Ware County Emergency Medical Service ambulance to Mayo Clinic Health System in Waycross for treatment of neck and back injuries, said Royal.
Driving a 1998 Dodge Ram, Colby Taylor was headed west on Eight Mile Post Road when a deer entered the roadway, said Royal. The driver told lawmen he swerved to avoid striking the deer and the truck left the roadway when he lost control. Royal said the truck hit a pine tree causing moderate damage to the vehicle.
Deputy Craig Colley investigated the 9:19 p.m. accident on Eight Mile Post Road, about a half-mile west of Huckleberry Road.
