Herbert E. Bond, 89, retired Ware County sheriff, died Friday morning (May 8, 2015) at Mayo Clinic Health System in Waycross following a lengthy illness.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Music Funeral Home.

James L. Sistar Jr.
James L. “Jimmy” Sistar Jr., O.D., 62, of Waycross died Friday afternoon (May 8, 2015) at Mayo Clinic Health System in Waycross after a short illness.
A funeral will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 10:45 a.m. Monday at the church.
A complete obituary will appear in Monday’s edition of the Waycross Journal-Herald.

Robert F. Cowart
Robert F. Cowart, 79, died Thursday (May 7, 2015) at Mayo Clinic of Jacksonville, Fla., following a short illness.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Ware County. He was preceded in death by a son, Mike Cowart, and his parents, F.M. “Sonny” Cowart and Viola McInnis Cowart. He was retired owner of Cowart’s Paint and Body Shop and was a member of Deenwood Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Josephine Allen Cowart, of Waycross; a brother, Larry Cowart (wife, Susan), of Waycross; four nieces, Cyndie (Larry) Dixon, Cammy (Mike) Smith, Connie (Stan) Adams and Christie (Ray) Miller; and several other nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be held 3 p.m. Sunday at Deenwood Baptist Church. Burial will be in Kettle Creek Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Music Funeral Home this evening from 6 until 8.

Mollie Faye Strickland
Mollie Faye Strickland, 84, died Wednesday (May 6, 2015) at Northside Hospital Forsyth in Cumming, following short illness.
She was born in Millwood and lived most of her life in Waycross. She was also a former employee of National Life and Accident Insurance Company and a member of First Baptist Church in Waycross.
She was a daughter of the late Dessie E. Gillis and Annie Mae Harrell Gillis. She was married to the late Troy E. “Zeke” Strickland and preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters, a grandson, Conway Strickland; and a granddaughter, Kelly Lee.
She is survived by her son, Walter Taylor (wife, Becky), of Cumming; a daughter, Karen Taylor, of Waycross; a step-son, Terry H. Strickland (wife, Vicky), of Waycross; a step-daughter, Debra Strickland, of Waycross; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Lounell Burton Morgan, of Douglas; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A funeral will be held 3 p.m. today at the Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery.
The family will receive friends this afternoon at the funeral home from 1 until 3 o’clock.

Laurie A. Sanderson
Laurie Juanita McCracken Adams Sanderson, 89, of Waycross, passed away early Friday morning (May 8, 2015) at her residence.
Born on Dec. 14, 1925 in Moultrie, she lived in Ware and Bacon counties since the ’40’s. She worked for the Brunswick Shipyard during WWII and was a retired supervisor from the King Edward Cigar Company. She loved sewing and was a member of the Homemaker’s Club. She was a member of Lee’s Chapel Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie Clarence and Alma Mallisa McCracken, her first husband, Amos Adams, and her second husband, Earl Randolph Sanderson, a son, Jessie Dewight Adams, six sisters, Susie White, Charlie Ruth Palmer, Ruby Frances Peacock, Annette Best, Pauline McCracken and Amber McCracken; and a brother, Carl Clifton.
Survivors include a son, Larry Adams (wife, Rosa), of Waycross; step-daughter, Rhonda Sanderson, of Fernandina Beach; four sisters, Gussie Dudley, of Mississippi, Willie Mae Barwick, Mary Johnson and Virginia Tucker, of Albany; three grandchildren, Tammy White (husband, Matt), Gala Hewett, Missy Johnson (husband, Bobby); seven great-grandchildren, Brandon Bennett, Cody Taylor, Hayden Royal, Coleman Hewett, Tucker Hewett, Molly Meyer and Morgan Meyer; several nieces, nephews and numerous other relatives.
The graveside service will be held at 11 o’clock this morning at the Lee’s Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family kindly requests that members of the Lee’s Chapel Senior Adult Sunday School Class serve as honorary pallbearers and are asked to be at the cemetery by 10:30 this morning.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Satilla, 808 Evergreen Way, Waycross, Ga. 31503.

A funeral for Robert Walter Justice was held Friday morning at the Miles-Odum Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Robbin King officiating.
Burial followed in Oakland Cemetery.
Active Pallbearers were Shawn Justice, Chris Davis, Tucker Strader, Cecil Justice Jr., Dalton Branch and Andrew Wallace.
Military honors were provided by the Navy Funeral Honor Detail of Kings Bay.
Miles-Odum Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
